The Maas Soliton was designed for the short, steep waves in the San Francisco Bay. The Soliton hull is very narrow (12" maximum waterline beam) and has a transom stern to reduce the wetted surface. The transom stern means that the boat is only 19'5" long but still performs like a boat in the 20' - 21' range. The bow is high and narrow which means that the Soliton has the buoyancy to keep the bow up but is still narrow enough to punch though waves. In practical terms you'll find that the Soliton accelerates and turns very well. At 4 lbs, the ama is very light. The ama is designed to reduce the wetted surface while keeping the volume aft. The result is that this ama is remarkably easy to fly. The seat is easily adjustable for different leg lengths. There is a carbon fiber seat pan that slides in a track on the seat deck. The seat is clamped in place by means of a bolt that is turned by hand. The sides of the seat pan rise up to securely capture the paddler's hips. The seat itself is CNC-machined from closed cell foam. We offer two different seat pans for different size butts. SPECIFICATIONS:
